 Crystal Radio Sessions, curated by Ashley Mayne, showcases fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction and personal essays by established and emerging writers from the Hudson Valley. Crystal Radio believes in the power of the spoken word and is devoted to transmitting compelling literary expression through the ether. This year’s reading will feature “The Yellow“ by Samantha Hunt, and “Sugar Bath” by Harris Lahti.

Samantha Hunt

Samantha Hunt is the author of five books. The Unwritten Book, a non-fiction investigation into our relationships with the dead; The Seas, about a girl who might be a mermaid; The Dark Dark, a collection of short fictions; Mr. Splitfoot, a ghost story; and The Invention of Everything Else about Nikola Tesla. Hunt is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Bard Fiction Prize, the National Book Foundation’s 5 Under 35 Prize, the St. Francis College Literary Prize and a blue-ribbon winner of the Montgomery Place Pie contest. She has been a finalist for the Orange Prize and the PEN/Faulkner. Hunt teaches at Pratt Institute and lives in Tivoli, New York where she is mother to three daughters, a gardener, a beekeeper, a wild swimmer, and a wild singer.

Harris Lahti's fiction has appeared in Southwest Review, Bomb, Archway Editions Journal, Ninth Letter, Blue Arrangements, and elsewhere. Joey Taylor is a graduate of Dutchess Community College, and Western Connecticut State University where he studied theatre and performance. By day, he is a Box Office Associate/Education Assistant for the Bardavon 1869 Opera House and the Ulster Performing Arts Center. By night, he is a totally rad theatre artist who has been spotted consorting with the coolest theatre collective of all time: Definitely Human Theatre. When he’s not lurking around theaters, he indulges in all things punk rock, horror literature, and Pokémon. Recent credits include, My Love Letter to Godzilla (Dir.), Howie the Rookie (Rookie/Dir.) and Speech & Debate (Dir.)
