This is David Cale’s first show of his original songs, some written in collaboration with his musical partner Matthew Dean Marsh, who will accompany David on piano and harmony vocals.  Sensual, emotionally penetrating and hilarious, David's songs have all the qualities of the monologues for which he is best known. Focusing on romantic relationships, pick ups, blind dates, breast men and unlikely seductions, Songs for Charming Strangers is a sharply witty song cycle of love at large.

David’s lyrics have been sung by a wide array of artists including Elvis Costello, Debbie Harry, John Kelly, Carol Lipnik and Jimmy Scott. His new solo musical We’re Only Alive for a Short Amount of Time, also in collaboration with Matthew, premieres this Fall on the Main Stage of the Goodman Theatre, Chicago.
